Dr. Qasim had the opportunity of completing his specialist training and practice in the major university hospitals, including St. James's Hospital, St. Vincent's Hospital and Adelaide and Meath Hospital. He has achieved many distinctions including the presentation of specific papers at national and international forums and has had his work published in high-impact, peer-reviewed gastroenterology journals (ref PubMed). He acted as an advisor for the European Collaborative Group on Inflammatory Bowel Disease and, as a lead clinician, played a key role in the Colorectal Cancer Screening conducted at the AMNCH, Dublin.

 

Principle areas of interest as a national and international expert include:

- Management of inflammatory bowel disease, diarrhoeal conditions, IBS and coeliac disease

- Management of Helicobacter pylori infection including peptic ulcer disease, reflux and dysepsia

- Management of viral hepatitis and complicated liver conditions including cirrhosis

- Colorectal cancer screening and removal of precancerous polyps
