Colm Bergin is a Consultant Physician in Infectious Diseases, St James’s Hospital, Dublin, Ireland, and Clinical Professor of Medicine, Trinity College Dublin.
He is the Clinical Director of the Surgical and Medical Subspecialties Directorate (endocrinology, rheumatology, dermatology, neurology, GU Medicine & Infectious Diseases, Opthalmology, ENT services and gynaecology) at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin.
He is the National Specialty Director for Infectious Diseases, Royal College of Physicians, Ireland.
After completing undergraduate training at Trinity College Dublin in 1989, Prof Bergin completed training in General Medicine and specialist training in Genitourinary Medicine, subsequent to which he was appointed Lecturer in Clinical and Respiratory Medicine at St. James’s Hospital/Trinity College Dublin from 1994-1996. He completed a Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Boston University Hospital from 1996-1999 and was appointed to his present clinical and academic positions in 1999.
